What Do I Put in My BDSM First Aid Kit? by Bea Amor

BDSM practitioner should have a first aid kit and taking a first aid course is probably the best idea you could have. I am going to share with you what you should have in your first aid kit. I have never had to use the kit, I guess I am lucky, but if you are going to host a play party, I suggest that this kit is there before any guests are invited, because I have seen people having to use a kit at a play party.
Ibuprofen (not just for those times when your partner is not in the mood)

Aspirin (Some people can’t use Ibuprofen)

Baking soda (For burns there is nothing better)

Aloe Vera

Arnica cream, gel or tablets (There is NOTHING better for bruises and sprains)

4″ x 4″ Gauze pads (sterile of course)

Band Aids (different sizes, preferably water proof)

EMT Scissors (These are handy for many things including cutting rope to free a submissive)

One sharp knife (A Swiss army knife is perfect for this)

Ace Bandages, 2″, 3″ and 4″, (make sure to mark that these are not for play or so help you …)

Adhesive bandages

Benadryl for allergic reactions, itching and rashes

Antiseptic Wipes

Gloves to protect you and these can be turned into ice packs too in a pinch (These should be hidden from eager players as they tend to disappear when there is a shortage of gloves in the play area. I would supply the play area with a box of gloves just to make sure though)

Sterile saline

Glucose tablets

Splints

Sterile Needles (Once again make sure that this is marked “not for play or you will be sorry”)

Wire/ splints

An arm sling

Sterile Water

A mask and an eye shield

Safety pins

Tweezers

Antiseptic Cream of ointment

Adhesive tape

Cigarette Lighter

Book on First Aid for when you just can’t remember what to do.

You can organize the first aid kit to make it even easier for someone to use that has not worked with your kit before. You can compartmentalize the kit into medical emergencies e.g. burns or wounds or allergies etc. For this you can use little bags that need not be expensive (sandwich bags should do). You also do not need to buy an expensive bag for this kit. You should focus more on the contents than on the bag that protects it. Make sure the kit is easy to find in your toy bag. Make sure that your submissive as well as yourself go for regular refresher courses to stay up to date with first aid techniques and equipment. This will make play much safer.
